The search for a new occupant of the Luton Town Football Club managerial hot seat continues.

With Matt Bloomfield having been sacked on Monday, there is no confirmed news, from within the inner sanctum of Kenilworth Road, as to who our new boss might be.

In my view the appointment of our next manager is among the most important decisions in our history.

Already, since the sacking of Matt Bloomfield, we’ve covered FIVE possible candidates all of whom appear in the betting lists provided by the bookmakers – Jack Wilshere, Luke Wiliams, Ian Evatt, Richie Wellens and Russell Martin,

The next name, on what seems to be an ever-lengthening list, is that of Gary O’Neil

O’Neil has, I believe, been out of work since being axed by Wolverhampton Wanderers, back in December 2024, and could be looking to get back into management with what could be described as a huge challenge.

As a player, O’Neil played for numerous clubs but made his name, primarily, as a midfielder with Portsmouth and Middlesbrough.

On the international scene, O’Neil graced the England U19, U20 and U21 sides but never won a full international cap.
