The search for a new occupant of the Luton Town Football Club managerial hot seat continues.

With Matt Bloomfield having been sacked on Monday, there is still no confirmed news from within the inner sanctum of Kenilworth Road as to who our new boss might be.

In my view the appointment of our next manager is among the most important decisions in our history.

But I have this overwhelming feeling that if this next name, in our mini-series, were to be appointed, it would not get universal approval.

Already, since the sacking of Matt Bloomfield, we’ve covered FOUR possible candidates all of whom appear in the betting lists provided by bookmaker – Jack Wilshere, Luke Williams, Ian Evatt and Richie Wellens.

The next name, on what seems to be an ever-lengthening list, is that of Russell Martin.

Martin, as a player, spent the huge majority of his career, on the books of Norwich City for whom he made 284 league appearances, going on to win 29 international caps for Scotland, despite being born in Brighton, England.
