The search for a new occupant of the Luton Town Football Club managerial hot seat continues.

With Matt Bloomfield having been sacked on Monday, there is no confirmed news from within the inner sanctum of Kenilworth Road as to who our new boss might be.

Already, since the sacking of Matt Bloomfield, we’ve covered three possible candidates all of whom appear in the betting lists provided by bookmaker, Jack Wilshere, Luke Williams and Ian Evatt – all of whom, in this ongoing mini-series, have been recipient of opinions from our readership.

The fourth potential candidate, up for discussion, Richie Wellens.

Wellens, as a player, featured prominently for several clubs, most notably – Blackpool and Leicester City, after entering the game as a youngster on the books of Manchester United.

Venturing into management, his first post was as the manager at Oldham Athletic, back in 2017, sadly his spell came to an end when the club were relegated.

Wellens wasn’t out of work for long, joining Swindon Town, a post that saw him get the club promoted, winning the title, the following season, a COVID-19 hit season.
