Being appointed, following the sacking of Matt Bloomfield, Alex Lawless stepped into the role of interim coach, until a new boss can be identified.

Lawless, who may, as it turns out, only be in charge for one game, if the Hatters hierarchy can source another manager quickly, would have been hopeful he could oversee a win against the EFL League Two side, Cambridge United last night, in the Vertu Trophy, but it wasn’t to be.

Instead, we witnessed Luton Town take an early lead and then slump to a very disappointing 3-1 defeat, with a poor second half showing, a disappointing evening for both us and Alex.

Fulfilling his managerial duties and as reported by – Luton Today – Alex had this to say about the performance given:

“It’s hugely disappointing. We’re looking to get a win, it’s what you want, let’s be honest, and that’s what we haven’t got. I think the second half probably epitomises a little bit where we’re at, at the minute, as after some encouraging parts in the first half, that was disappointing.”
