Marti Cifuentes does not want a culture of sore losers at Leicester City and has told Abdul Fatawu it was the wrong time for him to complain on social media.

Fatawu called for greater protection from referees in the wake of City’s 2-1 defeat to Hull, the winger posting pictures of a tackle from defender Akin Famewo and the aftermath, with a minor cut on the Ghanaian’s foot.

“We can’t take a chance to get unnecessary injuries,” Fatawu wrote. “This ref needs to take care of us so we can bring our best.”

But Cifuentes has now spoken to Fatawu and told him his post was ill-advised. City are on a run of just one win in seven, and the manager does not want players complaining on social media, but rather to channel their frustration into a good performance in the next match.
