Liverpool could do with getting back to some kind of form during Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United.

After a run of three straight defeats, supporters may be dreading a return to action against their biggest rivals this weekend.

For the Liverpool players, that sense of foreboding may have been similar or even worse after the late loss at Stamford Bridge at the beginning of October.

As a result, the international break could not have come at a better time. It has given the Liverpool squad a chance to reset and have a little change of scenery ahead of a key period in the season.

One man who had looked very much in need of both of those things was Alexis Mac Allister, who has started the season looking a shadow of the player Liverpool fans know he can be.

But Mac Allister scored a brace for Argentina on Wednesday morning, hopefully signalling a return to form for the No. 10. Speaking after hitting two goals against Puerto Rico, Mac Allister admitted that it was a much-needed confidence boost after a difficult campaign so far.
