ALAN SHEARER claims Alexander Isak’s summer behaviour has damaged him, Sweden and Liverpool.

Isak went on strike in order to force through a British record-move from Newcastle United to Anfield in the summer, but his refusal to take part in any meaningful training or pre-season action with the Magpies meant he was badly short of match sharpness when he moved to Merseyside.

It is now more than a month-and-a-half since he left Tyneside, but he has scored just one goal in six matches for Liverpool and failed to find the net in any of his last three international appearances for Sweden, who now look extremely likely to miss out on a place at next summer’s World Cup finals after a dreadful run of results.

Shearer says Isak only has himself to blame for his failure to make an impact for either club or country in the last few weeks, with the striker’s conduct during the summer having badly backfired.
