Aston Villa centre-back Victor Lindelöf has pushed back against Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson in a debate over the defender's fitness.

Despite a limited run of matches since his free transfer to Villa Park in the summer, Lindelof is insisting he is fully fit and ready to play a full 90 minutes - something his manager is unsure about.

Since arriving at Villa Park at the beginning of September, Lindelof has barely featured, logging just 25 minutes across four appearances.

His delayed fitness seems to stem from his free agency over the summer, meaning he missed pre-season training and camps, and so he has only had a handful of brief outings under Unai Emery.

Tomasson’s recent statements come ahead of Sweden’s World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Kosovo.
