Unai Emery will not be tempted to cash in on Morgan Rogers, according to ex-Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill.

Rogers, one of Villa's crown jewels, has not been in the finest form so far this season, although there have been recent signs that his performances are moving in the right direction.

His stuttering start, to the point that he was ironically applauded by his own fans for completing a pass during a sloppy display against Bologna, comes off the back of a summer of speculation.

The 23-year-old took the Premier and Champions League by storm last term which meant he was linked with the likes of Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

That came against a backdrop of a difficult summer for Villa as they tried to strengthen their squad whilst also remaining within the confines of the league's Profitability & Sustainability Rules.

In the end they were forced to realise the asset that is Jacob Ramsey as the homegrown midfielder was sold to Newcastle.
