While Morgan Sanson’s time at Villa Park wasn’t quite as successful as many hoped, the midfielder has revealed his time in England nearly looked very different.

While Aston Villa and Arsenal seem to have had many links in recent years, whether it’s through Unai Emery or the relentless Ollie Watkins rumours, it seems Morgan Sanson provided another connection.

In an interview with French outlet CARRE, the midfielder revealed that after his rise in his early twenties at Montpellier, the Gunners put in an offer to sign him, which would have led him to a very different fate.

In the interview, the 31-year-old said: “My agent at the time he called me and said, 'come to the office'. He had written on the board, 'Paris, Lyon, and Arsenal'. He said to me, 'These are the clubs we have for you'. So for me, it was crazy.”
