TBR Football’s financial expert Adam Williams has revealed how much money Newcastle United have wasted on Yoane Wissa so far, with the Congolese striker recovering from an injury and thus still yet to feature for the club.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe had to scramble to sign a striker in the summer transfer window following the Magpies’ sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool.

Newcastle had Isak and Callum Wilson in their ranks last season, where the duo spent three years together as the de-facto strike force at St. James’ Park, notching a combined 91 goals between them since Isak joined the club in the summer of 2022.

That came to an end over the off-season, though. Howe waved goodbye to Wilson as he joined West Ham United on a free transfer, while Isak’s British transfer record move to Liverpool meant two strikers needed to be brought in.

Nick Woltemade was one of those, and the 6ft 6in German talisman has made a fine start to life in the Premier League with three goals in three home games. However, Yoane Wissa’s £55million move to Newcastle from Brentford has been ill-fated so far.
