Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali is said to be flirting with a transfer. That’s at least what they think in Italy, where they say “he always winks” at their clubs.

Gazzetta dello Sport cover the Newcastle midfielder today, saying he has ‘once again hinted’ at a possible return to Italy. According to them, several clubs are considering him as well and have dossiers.

He left Italy and AC Milan for Newcastle in a €58.9m move in 2023. He’s since established himself as one of the leading midfielders in the Premier League, after returning from a 10-month ban.

Some now consider him the best midfielder in England, and that’s not gone unnoticed in Italy. The Newcastle stars future is ‘increasingly on everyone’s lips’.

Tonali is contributing to that too. When asked about a return to Italy ‘he always winks’. The feeling is that he is consistently confirming the rumours that have been circulating about him for months. That, though, is done ‘implicitly’.

Newcastle have given him a platform, but the feeling is that he ‘misses his beloved Italian surroundings’. He also has a desire to ‘breathe a more homely atmosphere’.
