Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley has withdrawn from the England under-21 squad with what is believed to be a minor calf injury.

The 19-year-old star had been called up by under-21s manager Lee Carsley for the Young Lions European Championship qualifiers against Moldova and Andorra but has returned to Newcastle ahead of this evening's clash in Chisinau.

Crystal Palace’s Romaine Esse and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Tom Watson have been added to the squad following Miley's withdrawal.

Miley has made seven appearances for Newcastle across all competitions but has been restricted to just two starts against Bournemouth in the Premier League and Bradford City in the Carabao Cup.
