Newcastle United have continued scouting Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth. They recently watched him in the Madrid derby.

That’s according to Marca, who say Newcastle ‘took note’ of the Norwegian’s performance in the last derby. They say their notebooks ‘ended up filled with positive marks’ non the striker.

According to their information, Sorloth has become of the names at the top of Newcastle’s list of ‘preferred signings’ for the January transfer window. They still want to fill the void left by Alexander Isak’s departure to Liverpool.

They recent sent two scouts, who were part of a large group, to watch Atletico take on Real Madrid in the derby. And it seems they were there to watch Sorloth, making ‘constant notes’ about the striker.

The pair scrutinised every movement he made in the game, including his goal in the eventual 5-2 win.

The belief is that his profile fits the Premier League and Newcastle. Their scouting notebooks ended up ‘riddled with positive verification ticks’. In simple terms, they were left very impressed by him.
