Fabio Carvalho shares what he and Tyler Morton are planning to do under Arne Slot at Liverpool next season

A number of Liverpool players look set to be given a second chance under new manager Arne Slot next season.

After almost nine years of Jurgen Klopp, seeing someone else lead Liverpool is going to take a lot a getting used to.

And while Klopp leaving is undoubtedly a desperately sad moment for the club, there’s plenty to be excited about with Slot.

One reason that positivity should abound is that the Dutch coach is well known for giving chances to youngsters. As Klopp expertly showed this season, the Liverpool academy is brimming with talent for Slot to use.

Some of those exciting young players are currently out on-loan. Sepp van den Berg is having a supreme season and looks like one who could come into the fold under Slot. And the same can easily be said for Hull City duo Fabio Carvalho and Tyler Morton.

Though Carvalho’s time at Liverpool has been a disappointment, he’s still a big prospect. There’s every chance that Slot could be the perfect manager for him, too.

If the Reds had needed a reminder of the 21-year-old’s quality, then they’ve been given it at Hull. Carvalho has scored nine goals in just 19 games for the Tigers.

Morton has been great as well, becoming a key player for Liam Rosenior. And speaking to the Liverpool ECHO, Carvalho says he and Morton have been speaking about their plans back at Anfield next season.

“It’ll be a fresh start for me, and for the likes of Tyler [Morton] as well,” he says. “We’ve just got to take the chances that come. Really grasp it and take it with both hands. Tyler and I have spoken (about the summer). Especially after the news came out about Jurgen. We just spoke about what could potentially change at the club.

“Ultimately, it’s a fresh start for both of us. We’ll just go back there with nothing to lose and everything to gain,” Carvalho adds.

“Obviously I want to break into the Liverpool first-team squad, into the starting XI as well. For now, I’m focused on Hull City and getting promoted. I’m going to see how pre-season turns out and then we’ll make a decision (on my future) after that.”

Some people will have no doubt written Carvalho off as a Liverpool player already. It also should be said that a good spell in the Championship doesn’t mean someone can cut it at Anfield.

Indeed, Carvalho himself had a great season in the division with Fulham the year before he moved to Liverpool. From there he couldn’t kick on.

The difference this time will be that Fabio already knows what to expect when he comes back. Although the manager will have changed, many of the same faces will remain. Expectation at the club will arguably have lessened as well. That could help him.

With confidence back in his game, there’s every chance that Carvalho can show his true self under Slot.

If not, then both he and Morton will be 22 before long. Liverpool should look to move both out of the door.
