LaLiga club plan a move for Tottenham Hotspur outcast Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been vying for a move away from North London as links for a Lilywhites exit intensify as summer draws near. The Argentine midfielder has been eyed by his former employers, Real Betis, per Estadio Deportivo.

Spurs signed Gio in the summer of 2019 from Real Betis for a club-record-equaling fee of €60 million (£55.3 million). The former PSG midfielder arrived in England with high expectations; however, he was unable to replicate his antics with Los Verdiblancos at White Hart Lane.

Frustrated Giovani Lo Celso linked with Betis return after struggles at Tottenham.

Following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou, a set of supporters felt that the Argentine Copa America winner could still have a future at the club and that he could turn things around. However, the 27-year-old has found minutes hard to come by under the Australian gaffer after aggregating only 19 appearances in all competitions in the ongoing campaign, registering two goals and two assists.

Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with Real Betis for a possible return this summer. Manuel Pellegrini is expected to have a busy summer, with the likes of Nabil Fekir, Borja Iglesias, and Willian Jose expected to leave the club in the off-season.

Fekir has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and Los Verdiblancos could replace him with someone they are already familiar with. Alongside Real Betis, Lo Celso has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer. Diego Simeone has expectedly been a longtime admirer of the Argentine, and they would look to compete with Betis for a move this summer.

Giovani Lo Celso has been frustrated with the lack of minutes at Tottenham this season, and he is looking to seek fresh pastures this summer.
