Danny Welbeck remained on the bench as his side lost 3-0 at Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Fabian Huerler said after the midweek defeat at Aston Villa that he is having to take care with wingers Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh and they were introduced in the second half at Liverpool.
Charalampos Kostoulas led the attack with Harry Howell and Diego Gomez in support.
Lallana told TNT Sports: “You can’t roll Danny Welbeck out week in, week out and it becomes evident.
“You have got Harry Howell and Kostoulas, an 18-year-old and 17-year-old, and (Diego) Gomez, he is only in the league a year.
“I think that shows and was extremely evident out there this evening.
“It was an okay performance but without any real killer instinct out there.”
Welbeck, who is understood to be fully fit, was not thrown on as changes were made on the second period.
