Scienza, starting at St Mary's for the first time, was a thorn in Swansea's side, especially during 15 first half minutes during which the away side could not handle him.

The summer signing hit the woodwork with a bending shot, before seeing two cutbacks spurned in a 0-0 draw against the Welsh club.

He was replaced to a standing ovation with five regular minutes to go by a crowd that voiced their frustration following a fourth successive home game without a win.
