The main thing I used to tell myself in the build up to a game against Manchester United was to not let my heart rule my head on the day. Sometimes I struggled to listen to that on the day itself.

It's the biggest game in the calendar and there is dislike and respect between the two but for the players, they won't all have the same feelings as I used to when I came to prepare for this one.

They will assess things tactically, of course, but the modern game means there is less danger of players losing their heads in the heat of battle but I suspect Liverpool will get more joy if they go back to basics this weekend.
