Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres' Sweden are almost certainly out of the running for next summer's World Cup after a crucial home defeat to Kosovo. Following a loss to Switzerland last week, they were in dire need of three points to stand any chance of breaking into the top two.

Kosovo had previously beaten Sweden during last month's international break. They had the opportunity to extend their lead by six points if they replicated that success, which is exactly what they did.

This result has left Sweden with a mere point, needing two victories to keep any hopes alive of qualifying for the tournament in the United States. Slovenia will also have to lose points in November, but not to Kosovo, making it highly unlikely for Sweden to progress.
