Liverpool star Florian Wirtz has described his international break with Germany as successful in a three-word social media message. The summer arrival was afforded the opportunity to be around his international teammates following scrutiny since he joined the Premier League.

The 22-year-old hasn't registered a goal or an assist for Liverpool since the Community Shield in the season's curtain raiser, leading to an intense focus on his performances and role within the squad. Jamie Carragher and Wayne Rooney have previously analysed his displays, leading to the former Liverpool defender to call for the Germany international to drop to the bench.

Although there have been glimpses of quality and an insight into why the Reds paid £116million for his services in the summer, he showed flashes during his substitute appearance against Chelsea but his creativity wasn't rewarded as Arne Slot's side suffered a third straight defeat.
