Florian Wirtz has faced a lot of criticism for his slow start to life at Liverpool.

The Reds had a hugely successful transfer window that saw a raft of quality options arrive, leaving many to think that they would romp to the league title once again.

However, a slow start to the season has left many fans a little more pessimistic, with almost all of the new signings failing to hit the ground running.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment has been Wirtz, with the German failing to register a goal or an assist in nine games since his £116m move this summer.

Many rival fans have been quick to label him a failure, with everything he now does being critiqued heavily, although ex-Man City star Ilkay Gundogan has backed his fellow German and believes anyone branding him a ‘flop’ may have spoken too soon.
