Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes the furore over Florian Wirtz's form is being 'blown out of proportion' as the iconic German tactician defended the £116million signing. The playmaker has come under scrutiny for his start to life in the Premier League but Klopp has become the latest to back his corner.

Liverpool sit second in the Premier League, just one point behind leaders Arsenal, after back-to-back league defeats allowed the north London club to move to the summit. Wirtz hasn't added a goal contribution since the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace in August, but he has shown flashes of quality without his teammates applying the finish.

There have been skeptics taking aim at Liverpool following their summer business and many have used the recent downturn in form as an opportunity to criticise the Premier League champions.
