A "bubbly" mum killed after being hit by a van while walking in a Leeds road has been named.

A woman who died after being struck by a van on Stanningley Bypass, near Pudsey Train Station, has been named locally as Leeds mum Danielle Smith.

West Yorkshire Police were initially called at around 1.14am today (Saturday, October 11) to reports of a pedestrian in the road. A short time later, a further call was received reporting a collision involving a pedestrian and a van.

Emergency services attended but the woman in her 30s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Posting to Facebook, friends and family have spoken of their heartache, describing Danielle as a "bubbly" and "kind" woman who will "will be forever missed." Among them was Shelly Bell, who said: "Sleep tight beautiful, the short time I worked with you, you was so bubbly and always had a laugh, may your children be forever protected and blessed."
