Mohamed Salah hasn’t been his usual self for Liverpool this season.

The attacker has been miles off his usual standards with players such as Hugo Ekitike even outperforming him this season.

Although Arne Slot has kept the winger in the role he played last season, the Egyptian King’s output has been far worse this term, which means the hit they’re taking defensively isn’t reaping the same rewards.

And, since Liverpool’s last few strikers, such as Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino, have all been facilitators rather than out-and-out goal scorers, Salah’s role with Alexander Isak and Ekitike now among their ranks is having to change.

There have been calls for Slot to drop Salah due to his poor form, but Danny Murphy thinks that would be a silly thing for Liverpool to do.

As well as calls to drop him, some fans have said that they think players such as Federico Chiesa would do a better job than Salah at the moment.

In fact, some have even suggested changing to a diamond formation to allow Isak and Ekitike to play up front together and completely freeze Salah out of the starting XI.
