Liverpool have rarely made mistakes in the transfer market when it comes to moving players on at the right time.

The Reds have made a healthy habit of getting good fees for those no longer needed at the club, with the summer transfer window of 2025 a good example of that.

The year before was another sign of Liverpool‘s excellence in the transfer market, as they moved along a number of those not in Arne Slot’s plans.

One player who caused some debate in this sense was Fabio Carvalho, who left for Brentford.

Carvalho enjoyed a good pre-season under Slot, but was deemed surplus to requirements and sold to the Bees for £27.5m.

With the 23-year-old playing only 31 times for Brentford in the season-and-a-bit since, this has since looked like a good decision from Liverpool. However, with Chelsea owners BlueCo now circling Carvalho, perhaps they will be wondering if they made a mistake.

While Brentford had initially looked like a good move for Carvalho, he has since struggled badly to get going.

New manager Keith Andrews labelled Carvalho as ‘pretty special‘ following his last-minute equaliser against Chelsea in September, but he has not played for the Bees since.
