Liverpool’s expectations over the summer were higher than ever before.

When Arne Slot first came in, the Reds were under less pressure to perform as they were in the midst of a transition period, meaning they could play fairly freely.

But after winning the league rather comfortably, and after spending almost £450m in the summer, many believe that the only option for Liverpool is to now win it again.

They started off well by winning their first five matches, but back-to-back defeats in the league has thrown a spanner in the works.

There are plenty of reasons for this sudden downturn in form, but Slot certainly needs to work it out over the international break so they are ready to face Manchester United.

Danny Murphy, though, thinks there is one obvious problem that has caused it all, with the former Red admitting he got his expectations very wrong.
