Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy says the time has come for Federico Chiesa to be given a Premier League run by Arne Slot. The Italian was the outstanding performer in the Carabao Cup victory over Southampton last month, creating the assists for Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike in the 2-1 win at Anfield.

And Chiesa followed that up with a goal off the bench as the Reds were beaten 2-1 at Crystal Palace before the international break.

The former Juventus man then missed the trip to Turkey last week with a minor injury Liverpool men lost 1-0 to Galatasaray. But after returning to the match-day squad for Saturday's 2-1 reverse at Chelsea, Murphy thinks the time has come to give Chiesa an extended spell in the starting line-up.
