Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has found himself being slightly mocked by DFB managing director Andreas Rettig. This is due to his comments about Florian Wirtz’s move to Liverpool.

SportBILD cover comments from him today in which he backs Wirtz to eventually shine at Liverpool.

The pressure is currently on the German midfielder after his €125m move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

He’s yet to live up to that price tag, with just one assist in ten appearances so far. That has, naturally, led to questions being asked.

While most in Germany have been backing the 22-year-old to bounce back, others have taken the negative approach.

That was certainly the case for Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who made it clear that he felt Wirtz would have been better joining Bayern Munich. They were also in the mix for him this summer but lost out to Liverpool.

That left many at the German giants frustrated. They believed they had won the race for the midfielder. This belief came after months of moves behind the scenes to secure his signature.
