Alexis Mac Allister has been backed to rediscover his best form this season with Liverpool told the influx of new signings may have "fried his head". Mac Allister has struggled to regain full match sharpness having been hampered for much of the summer by an injury that affected his pre-season preparations.

The Argentina international has not played a full 90 minutes for Liverpool since April and has started only six of 11 games in all competitions this campaign.

And former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes Mac Allister's plight has not been made any easier by the raft of new faces around him, including £116million attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz and strike duo £125m Alexander Isak and £79m Hugo Ekitike.
