'Superstar' Tottenham player has just asked Ange Postecoglou to let him leave this summer

A Tottenham Hotspur player has ‘requested’ to leave the club this summer, and a foreign side is already exploring a move to sign him.

Spurs are expected to be very active in the upcoming transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side are still battling to finish inside the top four and qualify for the Champions League, but after three consecutive defeats, their chances look slim.

Irrespective of what happens, changes are needed at Tottenham.

All eyes will be on incomings, but quite a few players are expected to leave Spurs too. An update has now emerged about one of them.

Tottenham signed Bryan Gil from Sevilla in the summer of 2021, when Nuno Espirito Santo was still at the club.

The Spaniard was viewed as a massive talent at the time. Graham Roberts went as far as calling him a ‘superstar‘ after watching him play.

However, Gil just hasn’t fulfilled his potential, has he?

The 23-year-old has played just over 200 minutes of football in the Premier League this season. He’s nowhere near the top of Ange Postecoglou’s pecking order.

Gil will enter the final two years of his contract this summer, and it’s clear that he has no future at Tottenham.

Spanish outlet Vamos Mi Sevilla claimed this week that the attacker has ‘requested’ Spurs to let him leave in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Gil has no interest in another loan deal – he wants to get out permanently.

Sevilla are keen to sign the Spaniard, but Tottenham’s demands of a fee between £5.1 million and £6.8 million complicates things.

That’s why Sevilla have reportedly proposed the idea of signing Gil on loan this summer with a clause included in the deal to make that move permanent in 12 months time.

Sevilla, however, face competition for Gil, with reports claiming Feyenoord have already made a bid to sign him.

Bryan Gil was one of the most exciting talents in Spain when Tottenham signed him in 2021.

The Spaniard was being courted by clubs like Barcelona at the time, but Spurs won the race to sign him, and many viewed it as a brilliant deal.

However, Gil’s performances for Spurs over the years haven’t been great.

To be fair to him, he hasn’t had the kind of game time he would’ve liked, but if three different managers don’t make you a regular, it’s probably your own fault, isn’t it?

It’s no surprise that Gil could leave Tottenham this summer, and his numbers tell you why this is the best move for all parties involved.
