TOTTENHAM forward Manor Solomon turned down the opportunity to sign for Saints during the winter transfer window, according to his agent.

Solomon, 26, is a full Israel international and joined Serie A side Fiorentina on loan in January, having spent the first half of the season at Spain's Villarreal.

The winger scored last week in a 2-1 defeat to champions Napoli, taking his total to two goals and four assists in 18 appearances this campaign.

His agent, Shlomy Ben Ezra, has told Sport 5: "Yes, he had the option to go to Southampton, but he didn’t want to go to the second division."

Solomon hit 10 goals and set up a further 12 for Leeds United last season, as he helped the Elland Road outfit to win the Championship.

Solomon, with eight goals for his country in 48 caps, has only ever made six appearances for Spurs, and his deal in Italy included an option to buy.
