That is perhaps the biggest challenge in Roberto De Zerbi’s career so far, and he will be doing everything possible to answer his critics. The Italian requires support from everyone associated with Spurs, as he tries to steer the team away from the relegation battle in the final few weeks of the season.

Having signed a five-year deal, it is quite apparent that the 46-year-old is not here just to save the club from the jaws of relegation. He will be responsible for rebuilding the squad he’s inherited from Igor Tudor in the summer and ensuring the Lilywhites enjoy a productive 2026/27 season. And it looks like Tottenham have been handed a surprise boost in their pursuit of a target.
