Former Rangers player Hamza Igamane has suffered a serious knee injury.

The forward sustained the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury while playing in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

The injury occurred during extra time against Senegal, who went on to win.

Igamane's current club, Lille, have confirmed he will be sidelined for several months.

A club statement said: "Whilst his Moroccan selection was contesting the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal, Hamza Igamane made his entrance onto the pitch during extra time, before going off injured a few minutes later.

"The examinations carried out on the player have unfortunately confirmed a serious injury.

"Hamza Igamane is indeed suffering from a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

"He will be unavailable for several months. LOSC wishes its player a swift and complete recovery."
