If one Rangers transfer story has gone conspicuously quiet after a pre contract had apparently been agreed, it would be an extremely unwanted midfielder.

Technically two.

Joe Rothwell and Kieran Dowell are both completely surplus players under Danny Rohl.

Rothwell had been confirmed as a potential pre contract with Sheffield United, but the trail on that one has gone entirely silent and plans may have changed down south.

Meanwhile, Kieran Dowell is said to be a target for Hull City, but again, it has gone very, very cold.

Are both players still leaving Rangers.

Both are completely expendable and unwanted under Rohl.

They are not part of his plans.

Both were signings Ibrox Noise completely objected to at the time of both.

Not understanding why Dowell was being brought in, which was later reinforced in this piece.

And subsequently also questioning the signing of Rothwell, a stance repeated in a January update.

To say the least, neither of these players worked...
