The 37-year-old midfielder left Scottish Premiership team Falkirk last month and will stay at Almondvale until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Arfield joins manager David Martindale's side just under two weeks after leaving John McGlynn's squad in search of regular playing minutes. He is the club's fourth signing of the January window.

The former Canada international is no stranger to the West Lothian club, having started his football career at local youth side Murieston United CFC before joining Falkirk.

A statement from Livingston said: "We’re pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Scott Arfield on a short-term deal to the end of the 2025/26 season.

"A familiar face in West Lothian, Scott joins his hometown club, bringing with him a wealth of experience from a career spent at the very top end of both Scottish and English football."

After leaving Falkirk in 2010, Arfield had an impressive run at Huddersfield Town in England, which led him to become a key player at Burnley. At Burnley, he was instrumental in the club's promotion to the English Premier League.
