Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion are scouting St. Pauli goalkeeper Niklas Vasilj as he impresses in the Bundesliga.

That’s according to SportBILD, who say the 29-year-old has found himself on Brentford and Brighton’s scouting list.

The newspaper explains that St. Paul ‘cannot do without’ their goalkeeper. He’s proved to be a key player, saving points and preventing them from suffering even heavier defeats. He’s already saved two penalties, after saving four last season. His penalty save percent in the division is 86%.

And this is why Premier League clubs have taken interested. SportBILD say Brentford and Brighton are both scouting him. How long that has been going on, isn’t made clear.

Neither are in particular need of a new goalkeeper at this point. Brentford spent big on Caoimhin Kelleher in the summer, and Brighton have Bart Verbruggen. Perhaps they are looking at alternative options and Vasilj is on their list.

The Bees have certainly shopped in Germany for players before now. Indeed, their last number one, Mark Flekken, arrived from the Bundesliga as well.
