Last week, we did something that threatens all that the Ibrox club holds dear. We challenged one of their great statuses — and they were not happy about it. That’s evident today, because last week we took from them one of the titles they clearly cherished most: the title of the club that makes the most deranged public statements.

Now, it took a lot for us to win this particular prize, because they’ve been the proud holders of it for a long, long time.

In fact, they virtually patented it.

Their statements have on occasion been so completely unhinged that you’d imagine they were impossible to beat. But last week, as everyone knows, we released one of our own — a full-blown moon-howl of a statement — and with Dermot Desmond’s name at the bottom of it, no less.

That was eight days ago. Hard to believe, I know. It feels like longer.
