Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart has helds talks with referee chief Willie Collum after Celtic's Auston Trusty avoided a red card at Hampden.

The Ibrox men played most of Sunday's semi-final with only ten men after Thelo Aasgaard was sent off early on for a dangerous high tackle on Anthony Ralston.

But they felt the numbers should have been evened up after Trusty went in late on goalkeeper Jack Butland, who already had the ball in both hands, and kicked him in the head. Referee Nick Walsh issued a yellow card and VAR did not intervene.

Celtic went on to win the game 3-1 after extra-time with Rangers unable to keep their efforts up into the added 30 minutes. Trusty was awarded the man-of-the-match.

It was believed Rangers would seek an explanation from the SFA over the decision.

And STV is now reporting that Stewart has since had talks with head of referee operations Collum.

Rangers captain James Tavernier revealed Walsh had told him there was not enough force in the challenge to warrant a red.
