Robbie Savage has told talkSPORT that he will never be a Premier League manager despite his instant success at Forest Green Rovers.

The 51-year-old only took over the National League side in July but is just two points adrift of leaders Rochdale in their promotion push.

It is just the second managerial job of Savage's career, having begun his belated management career in 2023.

He previously managed non-league side Macclesfield FC - initially as caretaker boss - and oversaw three promotions in four seasons.

Last year, the Silkmen ended their most recent promotion-winning campaign on 109 points, 26 points clear of their nearest challengers in the Northern Premier League.

Savage has since made a seamless step up the divisions to take charge of Rovers, who had finished third in the National League.
