In theory, Danny Rohl and Djeidi Gassama should be the match made in heaven for Rangers.

New manager, same issues for the Light Blues.

Rangers’ 3-0 defeat to Brann in the Europa League was their third successive loss in the competition, and the first one that fell on the shoulders of Rohl.

The Gers looked lost, disjointed, and, in all honesty, the exact same side that has failed to impress since the start of the campaign.

Rohl will not take any flak for that, given the quick turnaround, though there will be some added concern over the performance of Gassama.

Gassama has the potential to be a gem for Rangers under Rohl, and if we’re being honest, he’s probably the only summer signing who has shown his quality.

However, consistency has been his biggest downfall since making the move to Glasgow, and the hope was that the appointment of Rohl could rejuvenate his form immediately.

That was not to be the case on Thursday night.

The Frenchman had very little influence in the game, aside from a controversial incident where Gassama was booked for merely brushing his opponent’s shoulder.
