Ruben Amorim has made a surprise decision to leave Benjamin Sesko out of the starting line-up to face Liverpool.

Manchester United head to Anfield on Sunday to take on Arne Slot's side, who are looking to return to winning ways after the international break.

Heading into the match, United are actually in better form despite their contrasting league positions, with the visitors beating Sunderland 2-0 last time out, while Liverpool lost three games in a week before the break.

However, Amorim has opted to leave Sesko on the bench despite the £74million striker starting and scoring in consecutive games.

Amorim has instead opted to start with a front three of Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount, and Matheus Cunha, seeing the latter return to the line-up.

United fans on social media criticised the decision to drop Sesko, one user wrote: "Why has he benched Sesko. Amorim is so clueless it’s unreal."
