Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo produced a brilliant performance to inspire his side to a 2-1 victory against bitter rivals Liverpool.

United beat Liverpool

United went into the clash at Anfield buoyed by a 2-0 win over Sunderland before the international break. Confidence was high, though expectations remained cautious given their last victory at Anfield came back in 2016.

However, the Red Devils got off to a perfect start, opening the scoring after just one minute. Amad picked out Mbeumo’s run into the box, and the summer signing made no mistake with a composed, clinical finish.

Sitting back and conceding possession to Liverpool proved effective for United, who held firm to repel the hosts’ constant pressure.

Cody Gakpo had struck the post twice and he finally got on the score sheet in the 78th minute to restore parity.

Ruben Amorim’s men got their lead back just six minutes later through Harry Maguire. The England international towered over Ibrahima Konate to head home and secure all three points in Merseyside.

It’s the first time since his appointment as United head coach that Amorim has registered back-to-back Premier League wins.
