Manchester United defender Harry Maguire disagreed with Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim as he assessed the importance of his side’s victory against Liverpool. The 13-time Premier League champions climbed to ninth in the Premier League after securing a 2-1 win at Anfield.

United went into the encounter on Merseyside in search of back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time in the Amorim era following their 2-0 win over Sunderland last time out. And the visitors took the lead two minutes into the match as Bryan Mbeumo fired the ball beyond Giorgi Mamardashvili after Alexis Mac Allister had been left nursing a head injury in the centre of the pitch following an accidental clash with Virgil van Dijk. Cody Gakpo drew Liverpool level 12 minutes from time after an intense spell of pressure from the home side. But Maguire headed in the winning goal in the 84th minute as the Red Devils clinched their fourth league win of the season.
