Former Liverpool star and England hero John Barnes reckons the Reds could have a “dangerous issue” on their hands as they gear up to take on Manchester United at Anfield today. The former winger, who was capped 79 times by England, was at the opening of the new flagship Sports Direct store on Friday, October 17.

He was among the football talent who turned up to celebrate the brand leaving Liverpool ONE and taking over the former M&S building on Church Street. Along with John, Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Courtney Brosnan, Toni Payne, and Maz Pacheco were also in attendance.

Ahead of the opening, the ECHO caught up with John, who gave his verdict on how today’s game between Liverpool FC and Manchester United will play out.

Speaking about the Premier League game, kicking off at 4.30 pm, John said: “We know what we are going to get from Liverpool. We are going to get a committed, consistent performance.
