Newcastle United's wealthy Saudi-backers PIF still dream of a 70,000 stadium just next door to what some fans still call the 'cathedral on the hill'.

Internal meetings have taken place since the arrival of CEO David Hopkinson with an update promised to supporters now more than six months late. Hopkinson, on appointment, was well aware of the need for updates last month and said it was important but for 'another day' to the club's TV channel.

The lack of news resulted in some fans questioning PIF's ambition on social media, but this has been played down by those at the heart of the matter. And in any case, in four years under PIF United have gone from bottom of the league to Champions League with the Carabao Cup thrown in too.

The need for patience is shared by some fans who want to see Newcastle get it right when it comes to the next big move for the stadium.
