Jorgen Strand Larsen insists it never crossed his mind to try and force a move to Newcastle United after Wolves blocked a potential summer transfer.

The Norweigan international emerged as one of Newcastle's main targets as they looked to add two strikers to their squad during the transfer window.

With Alexander Isak going on strike, and Callum Wilson's departure, the Magpies faced a race against time to get deals done before deadline day. They had two bids for Strand Larsen rejected by Wolves - £50million and then £55million - before finally tying up deals for Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa.

Wissa himself had pushed Brentford to allow him to leave, although relations with the London club weren't as strained as Isak's were with Newcastle. Communication between the Swede and Eddie Howe broke down as the player finally forced through a £125m move to Liverpool.
