Oliver Glasner was this week named coach of the year in Austria. Much as they love him, it could just have easily been person of the year for the Crystal Palace manager.

The 51-year-old adores his home country is equally adored back. Indeed, he speaks to the Austrian media nearly every week, sometimes granting multiple interviews to media houses of all sizes.

If there’s a message Glasner wants to get out there, then he’ll do so via Austria. Indeed, comments previously about Crystal Palace being slow on transfers at times have looked a clear message.

Likewise, when Glasner has been linked to top Bundesliga jobs, it’s generally been talked down in Austria. The belief has been that if the manager leaves Crystal Palace then he’d be likelier to stay in the Premier League.

Sacha Tavolieri is a Belgian gossip journalist, who has good sources in his home country. However, in recent months he’s started a column for Sky Sports Switzerland and some of the claims have felt stretch to say the least.
