Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann has backed "fighter" Florian Wirtz to fulfil his potential at Liverpool. But the former Tottenham Hotspur striker has admitted the adaptation period has been tough for the attacking midfielder.

Wirtz joined the Reds for what was a club-record fee worth up to £116m in June from Bayer Leverkusen. But he has so far struggled to showcase the sort of form that saw him widely regarded as one the finest young talents on the continent prior to his transfer to Anfield.

The German international has yet to supply an assist or score a goal in the Premier League but Klinsmann has no doubt the Reds' No.7 will eventually prove his worth on Merseyside.
