At the weekend, Ibrahima Konaté came off injured in Liverpool’s league defeat to Chelsea.
On Monday, L’Equipe reported the centre-back is suffering from a quadriceps injury and the national team will analyse his situation. There was also concern with Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé’s involvement within the France squad.
Ouest-France provides the latest on the situations of the Liverpool player and Mbappé.
On Monday and Tuesday, the 26-year-old and Mbappé received treatment ‘established by France’s doctor, Franck Le Gall’. This saw them miss training.
It’s claimed both the defender and the forward didn’t take part in France’s full training on Wednesday. Instead, they had individual training and were limited to ‘light jogging’.
On Friday, Les Bleus face Azerbaijan in a World Cup qualifier and the report states the duo are doubtful for this clash. A source close to the national team said Mbappé has a better chance than Konaté of featuring this week.
Ouest-France explain France manager Didier Deschamps won’t take any risks with Konaté and the Real Madrid attacker.
The defender’s situation will be a concern for Liverpool. They’ll be keeping a close watch on how things develop in the next few days.
